State Republican Party Chair Chris Vance keeps insisting, apparently based on an online poll from KIRO-TV, that "75% of Washington voters believe there should be a revote in the Governor's election." Online polls are of decidedly questionable value, as they will often register multiple votes from the same person (as this one allowed), and those who choose to answer them are a self-selected group, usually one with an ideological axe to grind.
To illustrate this, let me give an example of extrapolating based on dubious statistics. Based on articles in the Seattle Times, several persons admitted filling out absentee ballots for their deceased spouses. The two who also stated for whom they voted both said they voted for Rossi. In the articles on felons voting illegally, of those who stated their voting preference, three admitted voting for Rossi, and one admitted voting for Gregoire. Thus, 100% of the dead and 75% of felons voted for Rossi.
I conducted my own poll among my acquaintances. The poll results show conclusively that 95% are sick to death of the topic of the Governor's election, and 50% hope to never hear anything about any election campaign again as long as they live. 25% could care less who sits in the Governor's mansion so long as everyone shuts up about it until 2008.
